ALMA

In the past I worked in the maintenance of the Atacama Millimeter/Submillimeter Array (ALMA) Observatory, which is a radiotelescope formed by 66 antennas located in the Atacama desert in Chile.

There I learnt a lot about the operation of such a big interferometer, radioastronomy and VLBI propjects like the EHT. I have a deep knowledge of the technology occupied in the Correlators and Backend subsystems of the array.

University of Chile

I hold a M.Sc.Eng. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Chile.

My Master's thesis was the development of an brownian-motion analog with an electronic circuit boarding a Cubesat. This payload was integrated in the Satellite of University of Chile for Aerospace Investigation (SUCHAI), which was the first Chilean-made satellite. If you are interested you can see a video of the SUCHAI mission and read my full thesis and article here.

Astrophotography

One of my nerdy hobbies is stargazing and taking pictures in the dark night with an amateur telescope (Celestron Nexstar 4SE) and also with a DSLR camera.
